Artist Statement and Bio

My passion for photography is a blending of art, nature, and science…

Growing up in Alaska for most of my later youth, I learned the beauty of nature. I took many “nice” pictures over the years, but the delays of waiting to get film developed slowed my pursuit of photography until the 21st century.

Obtaining my first digital camera was a life changing experience. The immediate feedback allowed me to truly explore photography and begin improving my techniques. Since 2001, I’ve photographed everything from weddings to insects. I have an engineering background, and appreciate the new technology.  I believe the art and science blends beautifully together.

I also shoot film when necessary, but prefer digital. The trick with digital photography is finding the most efficient methods to get off the computer and back outside!
